Traveling deeper in the City of Liverpool

Hello, my fellow readers,

It was my first time taking the train to the city center and it was an experience. It felt nice taking a train instead of the bus because it's a one-way straight to the city center and our tickets can be used as a day saver. If we took the bus we would have to pay to go and get back to our accommodations, the train was an easy way to go to places. On the list of things to do, we would visit the Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral, Liverpool Cathedral, and Albert Docks. The two Cathedrals are a mile or so apart from each other as well as Albert Docks, maybe even more. I took a picture of a map where you, my fellow readers, can see how much we walked as a group together. I would never get the love for walking, to be honest. Anyway, the first Cathedral is more modern whereas the second Cathedral is more Norte Dam kind of style. The Albert Docks hold lots of history because it is where the 3 graces are placed. The 3 graces are basically buildings where the people back in the day would port their ships and pay for traveling and bringing goods. One of the 3 graces would be a hotel for the upperclassman to rest or drink tea before the ship leaves the docks. Around Albert Dock would be a slavery museum, which is named Merseyside Maritime Museum, and a museum about the dock and war, which is called National Museums Liverpool. I, unfortunately, didn't have enough time to go to the Merseyside Maritime Museum because I was buying a gift for my little sister, but I was able to see the National Museums Liverpool and it was absolutely out of this world. It is a 3-story museum and on each level is a set of history from different years. On the 3rd level, there is a magnificent view of the waterfront and of the 3 graces.

Around the walls of the Cathedral, there are these sculptures of the story of the crucifix of Jesus Christ. Each sculpture represents a significant event leading up to the crucifix.

Going into the Cathedral there is a wall that tells the history of how this Cathedral was built and what this Cathedral did for the community.

This hand sculpture was in the middle of the Cathedral. I never heard the history behind this sculpture but I believe this hand sculpture is a symbol of a hand reaching out for you. That you are never alone.

This is a safe place for women only in another part of the Cathedral which is Our Lady's chapel.

Going down to the National Museums Liverpool the rails of the dock had locks and it reminded me of the lock bridge in Paris where a couple would put their locks on the rails of the bridge with their dates.

There is two bird statue that is a tainted green. These birds are faced in different directions, one bird is facing the water while the second bird is facing the city. The legend is that these birds are called Liver Birds and its made of many big and bold birds. This mythical creature that is looking at the water is said to protect the sailor and the other mythical creature is said to protect the people, which is why the second bird is looking away from the water.

Since this museum is telling the history of when Europe would do their trade from different countries there are a lot of train sculptures because trains were used a lot back then. There is also a part of this section where one can see what the sailors would bring to England and what the products would smell like.

After leaving the city I had to take a picture with the Beatles

Overall, this had been an amazing day of seeing so much history of Liverpool. It was also a beautiful and sunny weather in Liverpool which made it even more fun to walk around and enjoy what the day had for us. Throughout this day I was overwhelmed with so much beauty of this city and the churches as well. I have not seen anything like this before. I felt like I could walk around the city for days and never get tired of the view because it is that magical. This is a day I will never forget.

Until next time my fellow readers.
